Also featuring the Georgian Singers under the leadership of

Proceeds to support the worldwide Kiwanis project to
eliminate Maternal Neonatal Tetanus.

Sarnia Big Sisters Show and Sale 2013

The Sarnia Lambton Golden K Kiwanis Club will be at the Big Sisters Show and Sale at Bayside Mall on Saturday and Sunday November 9 and 10 selling Claxton Fruit Cake and Hockey Hall of Fame Board Games.   Proceeds from the sale of these items will go to support Kiwanis Club projects.   See you at the Show and Sale.  Kiwanians staffing booth at 2013 Big Sisters Show and Sale.

Kiwanis Club of Sarnia Amalgamating with Sarnia/Lambton Golden K

After nearly 85 years of community service to Sarnia/Lambton, the membership of the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia has decided to surrender their charter and retire the oldest service club in the City of Sarnia.  Despite on-going efforts to keep and, also gain new membership, with some reluctance and sadness, the club’s remaining seven members (from a club of 65+ members in the ‘60’s) are joining the Sarnia/Lambton Golden K club.

Chartered in 1927, the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia has been responsible for the co-ordination of the fund raising efforts for the building of the Sarnia Arena (‘40’s), Kiwanis Park (’60’s), washrooms in Canatara Park (‘70’s), Kiwanis Hoskins Housing Place and the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre (‘80’s).  Also, they have supported local children’s minor athletic teams, several children and youth programs, summer camp for children, 12 passenger vans to local charities, Key Clubs in local high schools, Christmas parties at the Lambton hospitals for patients (32 years), contributions to Sleeping Children around the World,  to Sarnia Celebration of Lights, to Lambton Music Festival, to Inn of the Good Shepherd, to Sarnia and District Crime Stoppers,to  Lambton 4H clubs, to the agencies housed in the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre, to the Canadian Kiwanis Foundation and the to Sarnia Kiwanis Foundation.  They were instrumental in raising $15, 000 to eliminate iodine efficiency in the world and continue to be active in the raising of funds for the current Kiwanis International project to eliMiNaTe Maternal and Natal Tetanus throughout the world.  The Kiwanis Club of Sarnia, sponsored by the London Kiwanis, sponsored both the Sarnia Seaway Kiwanis and the Kiwanis Club of Forest, who also support community service.

The Golden K Club of Sarnia/Lambton and Sarnia Seaway Kiwanis will continue to govern the operation of the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre and the sales of Claxton Fruit Cakes for fund raising will become a project for the Golden K.

Transfer of LG Home Club Banner

At the District Caucus Meeting in Forest on September 15, 2012 the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia passed the Lieutenant Governor Home Club Banner to the Kiwanis Club of Forest.  

Thank you LG Sheila for your service to Division 3 of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean District of Kiwanis International.  Our club members were all proud to have one of our own as LG for our division.  We all wish incoming LG Bud Orr from the Kiwanis Club of Forest much success in his upcoming term of office.   

Sarnia Boys and Girls Club Summer Day Camp BBQ

Kiwanis Club of Sarnia members barbequed hot dogs and supplied chips on Friday August 31, 2012.  This was the final day for the Sarnia Boys and Girls summer day camp for 2012.  Forty five participants and leaders enjoyed the hot dogs and cool drinks at the end of their busy day at McGibbon Park beside the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre.

Kiwanis Fund Raising Project at Lambton Mall

The Kiwanis Club of Sarnia is selling Claxton Fruit Cake at the Lambton Mall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from now  until December 15 unless we sell out before then. .  We have a table in the Children’s Play Court area.

Prices for the Claxton Fruit Cake are unchanged from last year. 1 lb cake sells for $7 and a 3 lb box is available for $19

We also have a few Sarnia Souvenir Afghans left at $50.

New this year - The Hockey Hall of Fame has allowed us to sell their Official Hall of Fame Game. It is a fast-paced board game of skill, strategy, knowledge and luck that the entire family will enjoy playing. The game contains hundreds of fascinating trivia questions about the greatest and fastest game on Earth. Suitable for all ages. Cost is $30. We have pre-ordered a few games and if these sell out we will take orders for delivery before Christmas.

Again this year the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia will be at the Big Sisters Show and Sale at SCITS on Nov 12th from 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday 11 am - 4 pm to sell Claxton Fruit Cake and our Souvenir Sarnia Afghans.
